Job Announcement:

Saratoga County Rural Preservation Company is looking to hire a dynamic leader as our next Executive Director. The Executive Director will oversee the company’s three major divisions which include; veteran’s related programs. housing programs and community development initiatives. Bachelor degree and 5-7 years related amd relevant experience required. Executive Director of Saratoga County Rural Preservation Company (SCRPC)


Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the SCRPC staff, programs, and execution of its mission. S/he will develop deep knowledge of field, core programs, operations, and business plans.  The successful candidate must be committed to the organizational mission and the populations it serves.  Outstanding communication skills are necessary to develop and nurture strong connections in the community.  The ED must be able to develop the organization’s strategic direction and clearly articulate it to staff and stakeholders.  The ED must be able to provide the vision for the organization, and provide the necessary leadership to reach it.



Leadership & Management:

  • Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent

quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend

timelines and resources needed to achieve strategic goals

  • Complete the strategic planning process for the organization
  • Actively engage and energize volunteers, board members, event committees, partnering organizations, and donors
  • Develop, maintain, and support a strong board of directors (BOD); attend BOD meetings, keep BOD well-informed of SCRPC issues
  • Develop, assess and widely disseminate the organization’s Strategic Plan
  • Ensure effective systems to track progress, and regularly evaluate program components,

measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, donors, and other constituents

Fundraising & Communications:

  • Expand local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations
  • Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with

the goal of creating a stronger brand

  • Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities
  • Identify and secure grant funding opportunities
  • Build partnerships in community, establishing relationships with potential donors and political and community leaders



Minimum of five (5) years of senior management experience with a proven track

record of effectiveness; experience in managing non-profit organizations preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to develop operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth
  • Ability to conduct data-driven program evaluation
  • Strong knowledge of veteran’s affairs and related issues
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop

high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget

  • Past success working with a board of directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships
  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide

range of stakeholders and constituencies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed
