I am pleased to announce that we were selected by the Saratoga Affordable Housing Group to manage their 40 apartments in Saratoga Springs that are available for low income individuals and families. Housing has always been a big part of what we do, so this new project fits in nicely with our overall mission. Our services began on November 1, 2012.
As the year comes to a close, I want to update our readers on what we have accomplished this year. First, we provided transitory housing, at our two facilities, for 32 homeless men and women veterans during 2012, many of whom moved on to permanent housing; second, we assisted 127 homeless or near homeless veterans find meaningful employment throughout the Capital Region; third, we maintained full occupancy at our 14 apartments that we rent exclusively to formerly homeless veterans and their families; fourth, we serviced over 240 low income individual and families through our County wide Section 8 program; and fifth, we completed our mobile home replacement program by providing 15 low income home owners, that had dilapidated mobile homes, with brand new manufactured homes through a grant from New York State.
